SUPERVISORY MEDICAL SUPPORT AS

Supervisory MSAs at this level plan and direct programs at medical centers and/or satellite outpatient clinics. They have full responsibility for supervising at least one subordinate MSA team leader, supervisor, or equivalent administrative patient support staff in a non-VA medical inpatient, outpatient, or interdisciplinary setting. The Supervisor has administrative and professional responsibility for planning and directing the subordinate lead, supervisor, and MSA's activities. Functions and duties are as follows but not limited to:
Works collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model (i.e. PACT) and performs all related duties; customer service and other duties assigned for the proper and timely treatment of patients Assure appointment schedules are maintained by MSA staff for one or more outpatient clinics He/she must assist with clinic access contingency plans by adjusting appointment times, location, or dates as well as shift patients to other healthcare providers as conflict with staffing and/or coverage occurs Coordinates efforts to ensure all aspects of duties are accomplished efficiently, timely, and correctly Plans and carries out the day-to-day operation of the office independently utilizing initiative to resolve problems Evaluating the work of subordinate staff Resolving complex problems to ensure patient services are met Evaluating new products, equipment, and systems to make recommendations for improved operations Identifying educational or training needs Making final decisions on hiring selections Evaluating performance, and taking disciplinary action when necessary Responsible for extracting and analyzing data to provide reports to senior management in support of tracking measures Knowledgeable of Joint Commission requirements specific to his or her job; such as patients' rights, emergency preparedness, information security ethical conduct, and environment of care Work Schedule:

Experience:
Six months of experience of clerical, office or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position; OR Education:
One year above high school; OR Experience/Education Combination:
Equivalent combination of experience and education are qualifying for entry level for which both education and experience are acceptable May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation). Grade Determinations:
Applicants must have, 1-year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-7):
Specialized experience includes but not limited to:
supervisory experience within a clinical environment; prioritizing and multi-tasking with completing deadlines; training new staff; monitoring and completing work assignments; resolve daily workplace issues or discrepancies; maintains efficient workflow; assuring coverage of all areas within the clinical responsibility; conducting ongoing reviews to ensure quality and correctness of work procedures; distributing and balancing workload; creating/maintaining employee work schedules; orienting and providing on-the-job training for new/current employees. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Candidates must demonstrate ALL of the KSAs below:
Ability to provide the full range of administrative and supervisory duties to at least one subordinate MSA supervisor or team leader in a patient support setting which includes assignment of work, performance evaluations, selection of staff, and recommendation of awards and/or advancement Ability to collaborate, communicate, and demonstrate customer service and interpersonal skills with internal and external customers to ensure quality/continuity of care and ensure compliance with established policies and regulations. Ability to provide briefings, orientations, staff development, and training in a patient support setting. Ability to manage fiscal matters, forecast resource and equipment needs, and identify budget needs. Advanced knowledge of managing or leading patient support staff in a clinic. This includes independently utilizing reference sources, decision making, and empowering the team to collaborate and resolve problems within a complex systems environment. References:

Work is performed in an office setting and is primarily sedentary. May require lifting and carrying of light loads (e.g. files, records, etc.)

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
