Medical Administration Officer

The Assistant Chief, HAS serves as an administrative advisor to the Chief, HAS. Provides a key role in assisting the Service Chief in the development and implementation of policies, plans, budget, guidelines, and proposals for efficient and effective utilization of resources and the operation of the service. Performs and/or directs special studies and projects for the Service Chief, some highly confidential and complex in nature. Analyzes proposals and provides the Service Chief with an objective opinion before a final decision is made. Recommends courses of action. Conducts executive review of correspondence which requires the concurrence, or signature of the Service Chief or higher level officials. Resolves significant problems relating to such correspondence through negotiations with the originating or concurring offices. When designated, represents the Service Chief's policies and thinking. Acts as Position Management Coordinator for the office. In this capacity, the incumbent reviews and assures that all proposed staff office actions centralized to service meet the requirements for good position management and are in conformance with the Service Chief's and medical center's policies and objectives. He/she develops new or modified work methods, organizational structures, records and files, management processes, staffing requirements, procedures for administering program services, guidelines and automating work processes for HAS by reviewing operational and project trends and other duties as assigned. Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:

Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience which equipped you the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of the position being filled. Specialized experience must be equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-11) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Physical Requirements:
Work is primarily sedentary although moderate physical effort may be required in attending meetings in many different locations across the campus conducting walking rounds and site visits to the community-based outpatient clinics. The responsibilities of the position can often be physically demanding and stressful due to competing demands. Must take personal initiative to manage time, resources and priorities to assist with workflow and workload. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
